Originally formed as land of the Buffalo Creek Reservation, the region was officially recognized as a town by New York State in 1852. This was due to the growing population and advancement of industry in the surrounding areas of the city of Buffalo.


Today, the community of West Seneca, NY is home to a suburban lifestyle, highlighted by local businesses, events, and recreational facilities. As of the 2017 census, the population of the town exceeded 45,000 people, spread over 21.41 square miles. The development of the economy can be correlated to its central location near the neighboring suburbs of Hamburg and Cheektowaga.
